Informally, there are some questions that should never be asked of a person. How old are you? How much did you spend on (insert luxury item here)? How much do you weigh? These are just taboo topics that most people learn to stay away from. For me, I think there is one more question among these impolite questions, which is when was the last time you washed your makeup brushes?

Do not laugh. The answer says too much about someone ( i.e. me). Like how lazy I am... or why my skin keeps cracking... or why I spend another $50 on new makeup brushes. As bad as it is, cleaning my grooming tools is one of the things I avoid whenever possible. Each one takes forever to clean, especially if you have a brush for every makeup step of your routine like I do, and sometimes my soap doesn't even wash off all of makeup brushes!

When was the last time you washed your makeup brushes? Don't worry, we've all been there. In fact, according to one survey, 39% of makeup brush owners clean them less than once a month, and 22% admit to never cleaning their makeup brushes.

Somehow, despite knowing that dirty makeup brushes cause breakouts and make our makeup less effective, few of us can say that we clean our cosmetic brush cleaning pad as regularly as we should. This is not surprising, It means that your brushes have to dry for 12+ hours, during which time they can't be used.

Either way, now that you've seen the magic of this brush cleaning pad, I hope it inspires you to acknowledge the fact that your brushes probably need a good cleaning too. In addition, it is recommended to disinfect our silicone brush cleaning pad to prevent potentially harmful microbes from entering. Makeup artist Caroline Barnes says: "A layer of oil on the skin, mixed with makeup pigments and dead skin cells, makes brushes a breeding ground for bacteria."

“If you're one of those people who do everything right but don't understand why you're getting breakouts and pimples, pay attention to the tools you use to apply product,” says Lynn Sanders, cosmetologist and cosmetics specialist.
